Modernist Reflections
Modernist Reflections presents mirrors designed by Richard Parr Associatesalongside La Mer est toujours présente - a 1962 suite of lithographs by Le Corbusier.
Vers Une Architecture – Towards an Architecture - argues that that the beauty and logic of machines and engineering should be applied to the design of buildings. It’s author, the pre- eminent French architect Le Corbusier (1887- 1965), believed beautiful design synonymous with efficient design and it is clear that this tenet was taken into account during the design process of the Campaign Mirror by Richard Parr Associates.
The design is simple and well-drawn, the bevelled glass plate set into a muscular steel frame of depth and strong silhouette. The frame is seamless, the surface of the metal as smooth as the glass itself.
Richard Parr has long been inspired by Le Corbusier and the mirrors reflect, both in their design and quite literally in their glass plates, the work of this seminal architect. Both the prints and the limited run of mirrors are for sale.
The mirrors are handmade in Delhi, India for the exceptional craftsmanship available there, the seamless curve of each frame welded from cut-sheet metal. All mirrors can be fitted with de-misters and LED strip lights.
